The terror cell was active."

The story was rather implausible, and the writing of it didn’t help. Besides the gratuitous sex and unlikely violence (spoiler: major incidents barely bat eyes?!) at the oddest of moments, the actual craft of forming sentences seemed forced and, well, a bit odd. I finished this book, thinking all along that it might redeem itself somehow but alas, it remained consistently weird. It gets two stars because also somehow, despite its faults, I still felt compelled to finish it.Product details

Tunnel VisionThe Bomb Maker Arrives in Boston eBook James E Craven Reviews
This book was out long before the Boston Marathon bomb attack but you will think it was written after. This is a well written can't put it down until I'm done book. It will make you think and not many books written today can make you do that. Just remember to schedule some free time you wont want to put this book down until it finished
Everyone is always fighting. There were ethnic stereotypes used. The sex was often gratuitous - in my opinion. I would have liked to have the author explore the relationship between the brothers more.
Just OK. Slow moving in parts. Found myself skimming to avoid the boring segments. Sorry to say there are far more interesting and exciting books out there.
Sorry, didn't like it. The writer builds up short-lived characters and tends to ramble. In dire need of an editor that knows what he is doing. The main character has had some tragedy in his life and it takes several hundred pages to finally get to where he is going to do something about it. The book drags endlessly on and on.
Another thing is the new author's treatment of those who don't like his book which I find is not going to help him with future sales. I've noted that he goes to the critic's OTHER comments and queries them there rather than here at the book entry. He better not try that with me. It's unprofessional.
In future series, tighten up your writing. Decide what is the eventual goal of your protagonist. Get an editor.
At least James tries and I do give him kudos for that.
I purchased this book some time ago and read it just recently. And today, I realized I hadn't posted my review of the book... and so I'm fixing that.
If you are looking for strict adherence to grammar, language, spelling or anything along those lines... go read something else.
If you are looking for entertainment, a good read to get your mind off other things in your life, something a bit different than the usual, then this is for you. It's a mystery, action adventure, spy thriller... you name it. It is NOT a part of what we normally associate with the word "Literature", as used in high school.
I read it in one sitting, if that tells you anything. I simply enjoyed it. Now, to be totally honest, there were a few spots that seemed a bit "too much", but not enough to ruin a good book, by any means. And I enjoyed it enough to look for other books by this author.
To repeat myself, this is entertainment. It doesn't have to be "realistic" or "believable". 'Cinderella' is totally unrealistic and yet we have all read that one at some point in our lives. Well... at least we female readers have read it.
I'm off to search this author's work for more of the same or similar.
I thought the story line was good and enjoyed the book, but the language and sex was a bit too much. I wish I had been warned ahead of time about that. needs a rating system like the movies so we know what we are getting. A well-written and exciting story doesn't need all smut to be a good read.
This was an interesting read, assuming the reader is interested in terrorist plots. A few things to consider are, for one, books are a very different medium than movies. Jumping back and forth between characters with mind-blowing speeds works in a movie because there are visual cues to follow. This does not work as well in a written medium, especially with no real physical breaks other than separate paragraphs. The intensity of the moment loses some of its grip when the reader needs to pause to determine which character/plot line we have jumped to now. Story was also a bit over the top with the mob, terrorists, etc. May have worked better in separate stories. Some people are unlucky but it's quite hard to digest all of this happening to one person in a single story.
The story was rather implausible, and the writing of it didn’t help. Besides the gratuitous sex and unlikely violence (spoiler major incidents barely bat eyes?!) at the oddest of moments, the actual craft of forming sentences seemed forced and, well, a bit odd. I finished this book, thinking all along that it might redeem itself somehow but alas, it remained consistently weird. It gets two stars because also somehow, despite its faults, I still felt compelled to finish it.
